HeadStart-supported Parent Ambassadors programme changing lives for families in Wolverhampton schools

The Parent Ambassadors programme, facilitated by the Citizenship Language and Learning team in the City Of Wolverhampton Council, trains parents in primary and secondary schools in the city to act as paid mentors, advisors and support for other parents and children. The programme has a particular focus on supporting families coming to the city from other countries.

The programme has been part-funded by HeadStart Wolverhampton. Over the last two weeks, the newly formed HeadStart comms and media team has worked alongside EAL Teacher Advisor Elizabeth Mickiewicz to plan, shoot and edit a short film which explains how the programme supports families and children in three Wolverhampton schools: Merridale Primary School, Bantock Primary School, and Colton Hills Community School.

As you will appreciate from the film, the programme is making a huge difference for families at participating schools in our city. If you would like to find out more about the Parent Ambassadors programme, please contact the Citizenship Language and Learning team in the City Of Wolverhampton Council at eal.team@wolverhampton.gov.uk.
